Friday 22nd March 2024 - Carolyn Packer's Stompin' Rhythm Aces
Carolyn Packer and Cameron Jones are a talented and highly engaging duo, and they’ll be bringing their unique style of jazz, blues and Gypsy Jazz to the Club in the company of our old friends Adam Thomas on sax, Toby Baron on drums & Justin Pfeiffer on double bass.
Carolyn and Cameron have worked closely for over five years, performing in many ensembles, including Carolyn’s own New Orleans jazz band, The Stompin’ Rhythm Aces. They’ve also collaborated on two acclaimed albums, and are about to record their third.
With three decades of professional experience in piano playing, performing, recording, song writing, and supporting artists such as Junior wells, John Hammond and Charlie Musselwhite, Carolyn Packer has carved out a unique niche in today’s music scene, captivating audiences with her boundless energy, musical prowess, spontaneous flair, and thrilling improvisation on the keys and through her soulful vocals.
Cameron, a guitarist, composer, festival director and educator, is Carolyn’s perfect foil with his Selmer-style guitar, harnessing the vibrancy of authentic manouche jazz whose authenticity he acquired through five pilgrimages across Europe, learning from descendants of the gypsy jazz masters, and tracing the footsteps of jazz legend Django Reinhardt, from whose family and friends he received the ultimate accolade – mentorship.
